Denise Lin, MD

 

DR. Lin received her m.d. degree from the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine in 1999 followed by an internship in Internal Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center where she focused on the diagnosis and treatment of the full range of psychiatric illnesses including those with co-occuring medical problems.


DR. Lin WORKED FOR KAISER PERMANENTE, a well-respected  advanced HMO in San Diego, where she became partner. She returned to Santa Barbara in 2007.


DR. Lin also works for Santa Barbara County’s “CARES” clinic for acute outpatient mental health. She opened Advanced Psychiatric Care in 2009.

Dr. Lin is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has had specialized training and board certification from the American Board of Holistic Medicine and the American Board of Physician  Nutrition Specialists. She recently embarked on a Fellowship in Functional  Medicine.



Dr. Lin actively studies the latest research on the efficacy of medications and advancements in psychiatry. She was an early adopter of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. She has trained in several modes of therapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She has also offered Motivational Interviewing, Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness Meditation.  Dr Lin continues to expand her knowledge of the endocrine and nutritional aspects of emotional disorders and is incorporating certain evidence-based hormone and nutritional therapies into her practice.

 

DR. Lin grew up in Santa  Barbara. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Nutritional Sciences. She married, traveled, started a family and operated a business in Taos, New Mexico before starting her medical education.
