This is followed by a discussion with Dr Lin about her diagnosis and treatment recommendations. She may order some lab tests, request medical records or prescribe medications. If therapy is warranted, she will discuss a plan for that. If you are already receiving therapy, Dr Lin is happy to talk with your therapist and coordinate treatment.
Subsequent appointments are generally 20-30 minutes. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. They are usually scheduled weekly or monthly. Here, Dr Lin will want to closely monitor your progress and adjust medications, therapy or supplements as needed.
FOR GENERAL PSYCHIATRY, we start with 90 minute psychiatric interview during which Dr Lin will want to hear about your past and your present emotional state, your medical history and your goals.

If you would like to meet with Dr. Lin for an initial or follow-up appointment, please call Advanced Psychiatric Care at 805-845-2323.
Note: Dr. Lin does not accept all patients. Sometimes she may feel another health provider is more appropriate, such as in the case of severe substance abuse.
For established patients, it is best to keep regular appointments so questions and issues can be addressed fully and in person. However, if an urgent need arises you may call or email Dr Lin. She will get back to you as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. She does not respond to text messages.

If you ARE considering tms therapy -- the new treatment for resistant depression -- your first step will be a free initial consultation with TMS Coordinator Christina Guest. She will do a diagnostic evaluation to make sure you are an appropriate candidate for TMS.
Prior to your first tms treatment, Dr Lin will want to complete a 90-minute psychiatric evaluation. She will carefully review your medical and psychiatric history and create a customized treatment plan for you.
